The Southern First Nations Network of Care (SFNNC) is seeking a Financial Consultant, Special Projects to join their team. In partnership with member Agencies, the Southern First Nations Network of Care is responsible for the management of child and family services to First Nations children and families throughout Manitoba. SFNNC's goal is to ensure that children, families and communities in need have the support they require to promote healthy growth and long-term wellness. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Financial Consultant will work closely with the SFNNC finance and service teams toward the creation of interim provincial mandates for Manitoba First Nations Communities aspiring to develop their own laws under "An Act Respecting First Nations, Inuit and Métis Children, Youth and Families." Responsibilities . Ensures the long-term financial stability of newly mandated agencies by working in partnership with community leadership to secure Province of Manitoba and Indigenous Services Canada interim and ongoing funding to support children, youth, and families in the community. . Participating or providing advice in the hiring process for qualified personnel for newly mandated agencies when this input has been requested. . Collaborating with newly hired finance staff in the creation of Agency start-up and ongoing operational budgets. . Assisting with the creation of board approved finance policies and procedures. . Making recommendations on the selection and set-up of the new agency's accounting software. . Working closely with newly hired finance personnel to establish SFNNC monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements. . Ensuring new finance staff are given the opportunity to receive the training and support necessary for success in their new role and therefore the overall financial strength of the newly formed agency. Skills & Qualifications . Completion or near completion of a Chartered Professional Accounting designation with a working knowledge of accounting systems, well developed financial analysis capabilities, and demonstrated computer literacy; a combination of education and experience will be considered. . Experience and understanding of Child and Family Services Funding in Manitoba is an asset. . Experience in not-for-profit funding is an asset. . Experience with Sage 300 accounting software is an asset. . Effectively speak, listen, and write in a clear, thorough, and timely manner using appropriate effective communication tools and techniques. . Ability to effectively present information to management and colleagues. . Work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions that enhance organizational effectiveness. . Must be able to work independently under pressure. . Ability to communicate in an Indigenous language is considered an asset. . Must have demonstrated understanding of Indigenous cultures and tradition.
