People Services Field Operations Advisor The Canadian Red Cross Society, a not-for-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping the most vulnerable in Canada and throughout the world, is currently seeking a People Services Field Operations Advisor to deliver specific services on site or by virtual means during a response and will follow established processes to support personnel in the field in an emergency setting. The primary purpose of this role is to help advise and support our dedicated personnel, with a focus on workforce management, employee and/or volunteer relations, coaching and development, and performance management in accordance with Canadian Red Cross established policies and procedures, relevant legislation, and government guidelines. Responsibilities: . . May be called upon to fill roles within the people services emergency response structure which may require deployment away from home for up to one (1) month. . As a focal person linking field operations to provincial leaders and the PS department, delivers quality daily updates and briefings to both the provincial and field teams as required. . Supervise, mentor, and oversee the work of any assigned PS Responders / Assistants to familiarize teams with the tools, processes, and systems for an effective response; ensuring their ongoing activities are completed in a timely and effective manner. . Provide coaching and advice to managers and employees on People Services matters including human resource processes and policies, employee/volunteer relations, health, safety, and wellness, performance and talent management, culture, and change management as directed by the PS Response Business Partner or Operational Lead. . During times of response, provide daily briefings to the Field Operations team and act as a liaison and advocate for the wellbeing of all personnel. . Support the implementation of new programs/systems/policies. . Ensures tracking of trends and metrics for People Services and provides workforce planning requests as required. . Conducts exit meetings to ensure effective offboarding. Supports workers to provide exit feedback via survey and obtain a personal debrief post response. . With the guidance of Provincial People Services leaders, observes and educates others on routine precautions to ensure occupational health and safety standards. . Collaborate with People Services colleagues to ensure efficient and effective operations. . Participates in disaster planning, preparation, response, and debriefing, acting as a trusted advisor in the process. Qualifications: . College diploma or university degree in Human Resources, Volunteer Management or business with a minimum of one (1) to three (3) years experience in HR, VR or customer service role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. . Experience in an emergency environment, and/or knowledge of Red Cross role in disaster response, relief and recovery, an asset . Proven skills in a broad range of people services functions, including workforce planning, performance management, onboarding, orientation, offboarding, and recognition . Excellent coaching and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence when working closely with managers . Strong verbal and written communication skills . Bilingual (English and French) proficiency is preferred, fluency in English is required . Critical thinking skills . Strong computer skills in MS Office Suite and ability to learn other programs/systems, as required . Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information . Superior organization and time management skills . Self-directed, motivated, resourceful . Ability to work effectively with remote supervision, is able to receive coaching and self correct or improve based on feedback .
