Established in 1983, Awasis Agency of Northern Manitoba provides a continuum of culturally appropriate child and family services to 11 First Nation Communities in Northern Manitoba, as well as Winnipeg and Thompson. Awasis Agency of Northern Manitoba is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure that the service delivery by Awasis Agency of Northern Manitoba meets or exceeds internal and external requirements based on legislation and best practice in child welfare. Visiting agency sites, collaborates with stakeholders to develop, monitor and improve policies and practices, the Quality Assurance Specialist offers solutions when discrepancies are identified. The work is highly complex and requires the understanding and correct interpretation of laws, regulations, standards, policies and procedures. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: . Create a strategy for measuring continuous improvement in service delivery and operations. . Develop, implement and monitor policies, procedures and processes to maintain compliance with relevant legislation. . Audit and review case management files for compliance to agency policies and legislation. . Participate in external review process and develop responses to external reports. . Follow up on recommendations from the Manitoba Advocate for Children and Youth and the First Nations of Northern Manitoba Child & Family Services Authority. . Develop a framework in which to execute internal agency reviews. . Conduct interviews with directors, supervisors, agency staff, foster parents, children in care and community collaterals as required. . Create assessment tools to measure and analyze quality and effectiveness of procedures. . Identify training priorities for staff members. . Submit reports and statistics on quality assurance activities as requested. . Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the established policies and procedures. SKILLS & ABILITIES: . Excellent communication skills, both written, verbal and presentation skills . Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to lead, interact with, influence, resolve conflict and drive consensus among individuals from various backgrounds . Excellent team leader, member and mentor . Highly customer focused with the ability to effectively balance conflicting priorities . High level of business acumen . Action oriented with good common-sense approach to problem solving QUALIFICATIONS& EXPERIENCE . Bachelor or Masters of Social Work (BSW or MSW) . 5+ years of experience as a Social Worker and/or a Supervisor in a child welfare agency . Thorough knowledge and understanding of the CFS Act, CFS Authorities Act, the Adoption Act and legislation related to Foster Care and the Manitoba Advocate for Children and Youth . Experience in a Quality Assurance role is preferable . A valid driver's license . Demonstrated understanding and respect for Indigenous culture . Ability to speak Cree or Dene is an asset .
