Employee Relations Specialist The Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority (SLFNHA) provides primary health care, including chronic disease management, health promotion and disease prevention. Serving 33 First Nations in the area, we are here to support and contribute to a strong health system by providing a variety of essential health services to the people of Northern and remote communities. The Employee Relations Specialist will monitor all aspects of employee performance and well-being. This individual will be an advisor, providing guidance and direction to management on discipline and employee behaviour. In collaboration with the Human Resources Director, they will investigate and coordinate disciplinary actions in response to claims of discrimination or harassment, retaliation, sexual harassment, hostile working conditions, and other workplace disputes in an ethical, and fair manner in order to promote a positive working environment between SLFNHA and its employees. Participate in recruitment and hiring, compensation and benefits, communicating Human Resources policies, conducing exit interviews and ultimately analyzing employee data while making recommendations to management accordingly. . Provide coaching and advice to all levels of management on issues related to employee performance, attendance, discipline, and dismissal ensuring managers have the tools and training necessary to effectively manage employee issues. . Conduct workplace investigations including Code of Business Ethics, recommending and facilitating appropriate resolutions. . Provide advice and manage the resolution of workplace conflict and the negotiation of any required settlements. . In collaboration with the Director of Human Resources, assist in the development, design, and implementation of corporate best practices, policies, guidelines, and processes. . Initiates, organizes, and updates employee files tracking progress, noting promotions, recognitions, and policy violations ensuring files are properly documented and maintained. . In an ongoing capacity, continuously act as a liaison between employer and employee. SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS . Post-Graduate education in Human Resources or a related discipline. . 3-5 years' experience in Human Resources preferably with direct experience managing Employee Relations matters including sensitive and complex workplace investigations. . Proven experience in customer relations, and building partnerships at all levels. . Significant knowledge of related federal and provincial employment laws and regulations. . Experience working in a First Nations community and ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects of the Sioux Lookout Zone would be an asset. . Highly developed interpersonal skills coupled with the ability to build relationships with employees at all levels. . Proven expertise demonstrating good judgement and problem-solving skills in order to regularly resolve conflicts. . Natural persuasive strengths; able to form trust with colleagues and the organization and work as a liaison while protecting confidential information. . Excellent communication skills, verbally and written.
