Legal Assistant - General Practice POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES Our client, a highly regarded mid-size law firm in central downtown Winnipeg is currently seeking a Legal Assistant to provide support to a general law practice for 2-lawyers, in the areas of Corporate, Real Estate, Construction, Wills & Estates. Responsibilities will include: . Scheduling appointments and preparing correspondence . Providing efficient, accurate and knowledgeable support to the team . Perform administrative duties with respect to accounting, opening and closing files, docketing, billing, etc. . Drafting complex documentation from start to finish . Preparing reporting letters and reports . Preparing monthly accounts . Organize and expedite flow of work . Initiate follow-up as required . Data entry, cheque requests, document revisions, faxing, copying and mailing documents EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS Requirements of the position: . 2+ years' experience in multiple areas of law such as real estate, corporate, and wills and estates. . Legal administration diploma and/or legal assistant certificate . Excellent multi-tasking with the ability to communicate in a professional manner with clients and lawyers . Ability to problem-solve, escalate problems as they arise, forecast appropriate next steps . Strong organizational and time management skills . Detail-orientated individual with good proofreading skills . Ability to work independently, follow instructions with minimal supervision and take initiative . Able to set own priorities while maintaining flexibility . Strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills . Availability to work overtime, when necessary . Enjoy a fast paced environment . Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook is essential .
